BHRIC Mac Laptop Home Directory

As MAC laptops will typically connect through non-trusted wireless networks VPN access is required to connect to BHRIC resources. The following is a draft procedure for configuring Mac OS X laptops for use with the BHRIC.

Allowing MAC Laptop to connect to BRHIC file shares.

1. Encrypt the Laptop using PGP
2. Connect the laptop to VPN (please note the VPN users must be in the BHRIC group) and or a BHRIC Ethernet network.
3. Join the laptop to the BHRIC Active Directory.
4. Connect the users BHRIC home directory smb://med.ad.fau.edu/bhric/users/{netid} or smb://health.ad.fau.edu/bhric/users/{netid}
5. Connect the users BHRIC group directory smb://med.ad.fau.edu/bhric/groups/{college}/{ResearchGroup} or smb://health.ad.fau.edu/bhric/groups/{college}/{netid}
6. Add the User’s home directory to their auto login tasks. This should create a persistent mount.
7. Add the Group’s directory to the users auto login tasks. This should create a persistent mount.
